Exciting career opportunities exist in our new purpose built state-of-the-art major adult emergency and trauma centre.

The Emergency Department at The Royal Melbourne Hospital provides care to the highest acuity emergency patients in Victoria. More than 55,000 patients attend the department annually, and it cares for more than 600 major trauma cases and more than 16,000 ambulances cases.  ED nurse
 
A $56.3 million RMH Emergency Department redevelopment was completed in September 2009, which improves facilities and expands space to enable it to cater for the fast-growing needs of the community.

The RMH Emergency Department is a large dynamic environment that consists of 2 trauma reception rooms, 7 resuscitation cubicles, 24 general cubicles, 1 isolation cubicle and 5 consulting rooms.

The Emergency Department is supported by two Clinical Nurse Educators who provide clinical education and support including:

  • A department orientation program and learning packages 
  • In-service Education 
  • Clinical Development program 
  • Postgraduate Certificate Program
