The program is aimed at early detection of breast cancer and targets women in the 50 to 69 age group. However, the service is also available to women over the age of 40.

North Western BreastScreen also provides counselling, support and information. Information workers are available to provide information sessions.

North Western BreastScreen operates screening sites at Moonee Ponds, Brimbank, Footscray, Broadmeadows and Werribee, as well as a visiting service to Melton, Broadford, Sunbury, Kyneton, Gisborne, Seymour and Port Phillip. The service is part of BreastScreen Victoria.
