Preadmission Clinic (3rd Floor)

The Preadmission Clinic is where patients are prepared for elective surgery in advance of their surgery date as an outpatient.  Patients who attend Preadmission Clinic are seen by nursing staff, anaesthetics and the surgical intern of the unit. 

The Preadmission Clinic is supported by Liaison Nurses along with the Peri Op Clinical Nurse Educators who provide clinical education and support such as:

  • Orientation Program
  • In-service Education
  • Short Course Program
  • Graduate Nurse Program
  • Clinical Development Program
  • Postgraduate Studies



 3 West

3 West is the Royal Melbourne Hospital's Day Procedure Unit. It provides a broad range of services to all types of patients with varying requirements. With state of the art equipment and well trained staff we pride ourselves on delivering safe, timely and equitable care to all patients. Types of procedure provided for in 3 West Day Procedure Unit include ;

  • Endoscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Cystoscopy
  • Ophthalmology
  • Plastics
  • Day Medical

 

As winners of the 2008 Melbourne Health Nursing Team Award, 3 West Day Procedure Unit is supported by an educator and there is opportunity for education and further learning through various streams;

  • Graduate Nurse Program
  • Clinical Development Program
  • Postgraduate Studies

 


3 South

3 South is a 28-bed ward that provide a service to Gastro enterology, Vascular, Urology and general surgical patients inclusive of some Trauma patients. 
 
A Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Support Nurse, senior RN's amd preceptors provide clinical education and support such as:


3 South West

3 South West is a 20 bed unit that provides a service to hepatobiliary, colorectal and breast surgery, as well as being part of the trauma unit. 

3 South West is supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Support Nurse, senior RNs and preceptors who provide clinical education and support such as:

  • Orientation Program
  • In-service Education
  • Short Course Program
  • Graduate Nurse Program
  • Clinical Development Program
  • Graduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Nursing


7 South East

7 South East is a 22 bed unit, that provides a service to Reconstructive Plastics, Head and Neck Oncology, Trauma and Maxillofacial Surgery.  
 
7 South East is supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Support Nurse, senior RN's and preceptors, who provide clinical education and support such as:

  • Orientation Program
  • In-service Education
  • Short Course Program
  • Graduate Nurse Program
  • Clinical Development Program


7 South West

7 South West is a 25-bed unit, that provides a service to elective and trauma Orthopaedics. 

7 South West is supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Support Nurse, senior RNs and preceptors, who provide clinical education and support such as:

  • Orientation Program
  • In-service Education
  • Short Course Program
  • Graduate Nurse Program
  • Clinical Development Program
