Ward 9 East is a purpose built facility for inpatient care for the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service.
The ward has 20 beds with 14 single rooms all with en-suite facilities. Patients are provided with a television and telephone.
All rooms have monitored negative pressure ventilation systems providing optimal safety for patients and staff when patients with respiratory infections require isolation. The ward also provides a unit with special facilities for treating patients with exotic diseases.
Nursing staff have many years of experience caring for patients with infectious diseases. Each patient a specific nurse to provide continuity of nursing care within a multi-disciplinary team.
Allied health staff eg. Physiotherapist, Dietitian, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, are available when required. Discharge planning involves liaison with relevant community services, eg RDNS |
